Walking is one of the best forms of exercise for people of all ages. Just as importantly, it can also provide time to bond with your family.
I have spent many a Sunday wandering along the Surf Coast walking track with the family in tow. Taking it at our own pace as the kids merrily tag along. It’s precious family time.
Sometimes we just wander from Serenity Torquay and take the path to Jan Juc and back.
Other times we drive to one of the various car parks along the track and commence our journey on foot from there.
The Surf Coast walk is actually 44km long. It really is a world-class walking destination taking in varying landscapes. The walk takes in the costal towns of Torquay, Anglesea and Aireys Inlet as it meanders along the edge of the Great Ocean Road.
Along the way, there’s an abundance of wildlife and various aboriginal artefacts explaining the history of the area. Oh, and did I mention, the views are stunning. There are fantastic views of the world famous Bells Beach. It is at Bells Beach that the Rip Curl Pro professional surfing competition is held every year (link to the Rip Curl Pro blog)
Whether you walk for an hour, a day or a week, it doesn’t matter – the trek is worth it!

According to the Visit Great Ocean Road website, over half the track is suitable for bike riding.
