5 Things To Do in Torquay

The weather is warming up and people are starting to flock to the seaside town of Torquay. Here’s a few ideas on what to do when you visit Torquay.
1. Go strawberry picking
From paddock to punnet. Strawberry picking is a fun experience for the whole family. Backing onto Thompson Creek, you can’t miss the strawberry fields when you drive along the Surf Coast Highway.
Don’t hold us to it, but strawberry picking should commence in November.
2. Brush up on your surfing knowledge
When it comes to surfing, there’s always something happening in the region. Torquay is home to the Australian National Surfing Museum.
There’s lots of information, a great collection of surfboards, a wall of fame and heaps on the history of surfing. The special documentaries playing in the theatre room are definitely worth a watch.
3. Fly a kite
The Surf Coast Kite Festival is a free community event showcasing spectacular giant kite displays. Enjoyed by kids and adults too.

4. Go for a run
There are plenty of running trails around Torquay. You can go it by yourself or take part in one of the many of the fun runs the region offers.
The Black Diamond Afterglow Trail Run is very popular and unique – it’s held after dark. It’s a chance to put on your funkiest, bright outfit. There’s DJ’s on the course, fire twirlers, musicians and usually a fairy with pink wings or a herd of unicorns.
Distances include 21km, 13km and 5km. You will need to register for the event.

5. Taste the best gelato ever
It’s called il Gelatino and it has some of the best gelato you will ever taste outside of Italy. The flavours are innovative and the gelatos are smooth, creamy and super fresh.
Golden Gaytime, Hazelnut Cremino, Mango, Black Hawaii, Berry Cheesecake, Cherry Amarena, Turkish Delight, Cookies ‘n Cream, Limone Siciliano, Salted Carmel, Strawberry Cloud … shall we go on?
Lot’s of gluten free (even waffle cones) and dairy free options.
