Surfing In Torquay
31 July 2015 - Great Ocean Road
Torquay on Victoria’s Surf Coast is well known for its surfing culture and being one of Australia’s iconic surf destinations, attracting surfers from all over the world.
Experienced surfers are in heaven at Bells Beach and surrounding areas such as Winkipop and SouthSide.
Whilst summer offers the perfect Torquay beach weather, winter is when some of the best waves are on offer to challenge all die-hard surfers.
And when the wind is blowing, if you’re into it, you can spend hours kite surfing in Torquay off Point Danger.
The 2016 Bells Beach Rip Curl pro surfing competition attracts the worlds best surfers to Torquay and is held in late March each year. We advise you book your accommodation well in advance as Torquay is very busy over Easter and during the Bells Beach surfing competition.
For those of us who are ‘wannabe’ surfers, Go Ride a Wave Torquay offers learn to surf, surfing lessons and surf board hire. You will need to book well in advance during summer on the Surf Coast.
The region also boasts the Torquay Surfing Museum, also known as the Australian National Surfing Museum and is within walking distance from Serenity Torquay Ocean View and Sea View townhouse accommodation.
