Is it time for your perfect weekend away? Anytime is the perfect time to visit the Surf Coast. Here’s our idea of the perfect Torquay weekend.
Arrive at Serenity Accommodation on Friday and feel yourself start to unwind. Pick up some Fish and Chips. Best good old fashioned fish and chips in town? Torquay Fish & Chips Shop at 34 Gilbert Street. There’s a great grassy area stretching from the Elephant Walk to Cosy Corner where you can relax, enjoy your fish and chips and take in the view. Time for an ice cream from Frenchys along the Esplanade. A Torquay icon, Frenchy’s Ice-cream Parlour has been around for as long as we can remember and never disappoints.
On Saturday, take an early morning walk along the beach and explore the rock pools at Point Danger. If you dare to get up early, catch a Torquay Beach sunrise, it’s worth it! Enjoy a tasty breakfast at a local café. PS. The coffee is great at Bombora’s Café, Fisherman’s Beach. Or, you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Serenity – a ‘cook up’ on the BBQ or whip up a hearty breakfast in our well-equipped kitchen. Head to the beach for a swim or hit the Surf Beach. Have dinner at one of our favourite restaurants, Front Beach. They do an amazing seafood platter for two. Enjoy a drink at the bar and there’s also a live band on a Saturday night to dance the night away.
If you’re around on the third Sunday of the month, don’t miss the Cowrie Market along the foreshore. Pick up a treasure from local artists and sample local produce. Continuing to enjoy the seafood the region has on offer, The Surf Coast Hotel, do an amazing Sunday Lunch Seafood Buffet. Make sure you book though; it’s very popular with the locals. The Surf Coast Hotel is located just across from Serenity accommodation. With full tummies, head on home relaxed and ready to face Monday!
